Green Infrastructure Workforce Training Program

Oakland Avenue Urban Farm is leading the way in green infrastructure, implementing innovative environmental management practices that protect and restore our community’s water, soil, and air quality.

Through hands-on projects, we are actively composting, planting

trees and native plants, constructing green roofs, designing bioswales, installing greenhouse structures, and developing advanced water catchment and stormwater management systems.

Our Green Infrastructure Workforce Training Program equips community members—especially those facing barriers to employment—with the skills needed for careers in the green infrastructure industry.

By investing in local talent and sustainable land stewardship, we are creating opportunities for economic empowerment while building a healthier, more resilient North End.

Participants gain experience in green roof installation, irrigation systems, compact agriculture equipment operation, landscape maintenance, and sustainable stormwater solutions, providing them with a strong foundation for long-term employment in this growing field.
